El Chapulín Colorado, also known as Captain Hopper in some English-speaking markets, is a comedic superhero character created and portrayed by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, also known as Chespirito.
He first appeared on Mexican television in 1973 as a segment within the Chespirito program. Chapulín is a well-meaning but clumsy and fearful hero, often bumbling his way through crime-fighting endeavors. His costume consists of a red suit with a yellow shield emblazoned with a heart containing the letters "CH."
His primary weapon is the "Chipote Chillón," a padded red and yellow hammer. He also uses "Pastillas de Chiquitolina" to shrink himself to a tiny size and relies on "Antenitas de Vinil" (vinyl antennas) to detect danger.
